President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend the Board of Peace inaugural summit for Gaza Strip reconstruction, scheduled in Washington, D.C. on February 19, the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel's Tahlilnoma program reported in a story.
The goal of the summit is to advance the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza and raise funds for the reconstruction of the war-torn Gaza Strip, Dunyo News Agency previously reported.
The Donald Trump Institute of Peace (formerly the United States Institute of Peace, USIP) was mentioned as a likely venue for the summit.
The Board of Peace's charter was signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January. The initial members of the Board were Albania, Argentina, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Hungary, Vietnam, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kosovo, Morocco, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. Traditional Western European allies of the United States were not among the signatories.
The Board of Peace's board will be chaired by Donald Trump himself, while his son-in-law Jared Kushner and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve on the Executive Board, along with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel, and Marc Rowan, as well as the CEO of Apollo Global Management, one of the largest American private equity firms.
The day before the Board of Peace meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to hold talks with Donald Trump at the White House. Israel accepted the Board's plan but did not sign its charter.
US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the member states of the Board of Peace have pledged more than $5 billion (€4.2 billion) for reconstruction and humanitarian efforts in Gaza, DW reported.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, the US president announced that he will formally unveil the pledges when the board meets in Washington on Thursday.
