The president Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution on holding the Ramadan Month in Uzbekistan which will begin on February 19.

The document stipulates that the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, provincial and Tashkent city administrations, together with the Religious Affairs Committee, the Association of Mahallas, the National Agency for Social Protection, the Nuroniy Foundation, and other partner organizations, will take steps to observe the month of Ramadan in accordance with national traditions and values.

The events will be organized around the idea: Ramadan—the Month of Mercy, Unity, and Gratitude. The resolution envisages the following:

  • comprehensive support for low-income, needy, and socially vulnerable people;
  • enhancing an atmosphere of mutual respect, cohesion, and justice in mahallas;
  • environmental protection, improvement of holy sites, pilgrimage sites, and cemeteries;
  • conducting events without excess, in a compact manner, based on content and economy.
