Uzbekistan unveiled plans to increase manufacturing of domestic agricultural machinery and components fivefold before 2029, while localization levels to be raisedby 10%, the presidential press service said following the government meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In 2026, manufacturing of agricultural machineries to 6,000 units, and by 2028, localization levels will increase to 30-35% for self-propelled equipment and to 60-65% for mounted and trailed equipment.
In an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel, Davron Khidoyatov, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Innovation and Investment at Uzavtosanoat unveiled plans to bring manufacturing from 3,200 to 5,780 units. However, the meeting set a target of 70% capacity utilization. According to him, this will require revising the plan to 7,000 units of equipment per year and mobilizing all resources, as well as reducing prices.
"Our main competitors are equipment from other countries. For example, 80-horsepower equipment costs 300 million soums there, but we managed to reduce it to 259 million soums by increasing local content. This is not the limit; the work continues. The goal for 2027 is to produce 14,000 units of equipment," said Davron Khidoyatov.
As an example, he cited the experience of Karakalpakstan, the Khorezm province, and the Pakhtaabad district of the Andijan province, where farmers received two tractors and trailers. According to him, this allowed us to increase the mechanization rate to 90%, increase rice yields by 18%, wheat by 27%, and cotton by 25%. Total revenue reached 5.4 billion soums.
In 2023, the agricultural machinery cluster began manufacturing tractors in Chirchik. Until April 2026, imported agricultural machinery was exempt from customs duties and recycling fees.
