Information about a child being electrocuted by a high-voltage electric shock has surfaced on social media. Children's ombudsperson Surayo Rakhmonova commented on the situation.
The incident occurred on February 18, when a six-year-old boy, R. A., while at a kindergarten in Fergana, fell into a hatch in a special basement where transformers were stationed. The child suffered an electric shock and was taken to the hospital.
despite the kindergarten being built and commissioned two years ago, the area around the basement, which posed a life-threatening hazard, was not fenced off with special protective structures. The basement door was covered with an ordinary plastic cover.
Reportedly, while playing, A. stepped on the basement hatch, which was covered with plastic, and fell inside. Only after the accident was the danger zone immediately cordoned off with special bars.
"My grandson has burns on his arms, shoulders, back, buttocks—all the major parts of his body. How could children be left unattended near high-voltage current?" the child's grandmother said.
A forensic examination has been ordered for the boy's injuries. The Children's Ombudsperson has taken the situation under review.
The spokesman to the Prosecutor General's Office, Khayot Shamsutdinov, reported that a criminal case had been opened under Improper performance of professional duties charge of the Criminal Code, with an investigation underway.
