Special tactical drills, attended by the units of the Ministries of Defense and Inerior, State Security Service, National Guard and Border Troops, began in the Surkhandarya province of Uzbekistan, which borders Afghanistan.
Plans to protect the state border and study their current status are being worked out at the drill.
Troops are on alert, actions of units for performing all types of reconnaissance in the border area and of combat missions are defined.
Note: The Taliban movement, which previously took possession of a significant territory in the countryside, announced on April 12 the launch of the annual spring offensive.
According to media reports, the Taliban released a statement in five languages, saying that the hostilities would continue as long as foreign forces remained in Afghanistan. The statement also calls for avoiding civilian casualties.
