The President’s draft Measures to Introduce System for Issuing ID cards in the Republic of Uzbekistan Decree has been posted for discussion on regulation.gov.uz portal. The draft was prepared by the Ministry of the Interior.

According to the proposed Regulation on ID-cards of citizens, an ID-card is a document confirming the identity of its owner, and is used on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

An ID card is issued to citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the moment of birth. Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan residing in the territory of the Republic from the age of 18 must have ID cards.

To obtain an ID-card, citizens should contact the departments of migration and citizenship (hereinafter - DMC) at their permanent or temporary place of residence no later than one month after reaching 18 years of age.

The ID-card is issued by DMC within three business days after acceptance of documents.

The ID card is personalized as per the established specimen in the Latin script of the Uzbek language, for the Republic of Karakalpakstan - in Karakalpak or in the Latin graph of the Uzbek language.

The following basic data shall be entered in the ID card form:

- ID-card number;

- owner’s surname, name, patronymic;

- ethnicity;

- date of birth;

- citizenship;

- place of birth;

- gender;

- date of issue;

- issuing authority;

- expiration date;

- color photo of the owner;

- bio data on the chip.

The following data shall be entered into the chip:

- the owner biographical information;

- owner’s biometric data (color photo and fingerprints);

- digital signature of the owner.

Based on legislation, other data may also be entered into the chip.
