An elderly man died in the building of the Gijduvan district police department of the Bukhara province, the spokesman to the Prosecutor General's Office Khayot Shamsuddinov said.

According to the Office, on January 17, citizen F.K. applied to the police department with a request to take legal action against Asliddin, who was allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the district.

Police officers, on the basis of a call, detained A.R., who had previously sold 12.61 g of marijuana in three matchboxes worth 1.35 million soums to the whistleblower. During the investigation, the detainee testified and said that he had purchased drugs from a 62-year-old resident of the village of Gishti I.T.

“To clarify the situation, citizen I.T. was invited to the district police department No. 4. When he arrived at the department, his health deteriorated, and the department staff urgently called an ambulance. However, the doctors who arrived declared the death of citizen I.T.,” the Prosecutor General’s Office highlighted.

The investigative-operation team of the province prosecutor's office examined the administrative building of the police department No. 4, office premises and the perimeter of the building, but did not find any traces or suspicious circumstances.

The investigation studied the recordings on CCTV cameras and seized the drives. The son of the deceased Sh. T. was invited to the place. In his presence, the body was examined, no injuries and suspicious traces were found, the report says.

According to the preliminary conclusion of the medical examination, the death of I. T. occurred as a result of thrombosis in the cardiovascular system and acute heart failure as a result of pneumonia.

The district medical association said the man had previously been treated for a heart attack. He also had one kidney removed.

Upon the death of I. T., the prosecutor's office of the Bukhara province is conducting a pre-investigation check. An internal audit was also appointed for the legal assessment of the actions of police officers.

A criminal case was initiated against A.R., who testified against the deceased, under Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances in large quantities).
