The delegation led by the Justice Minister Ruslan Davletov and the Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Siddikov held talks in Washington with representatives of international human rights organizations, the leadership of the International Commission on Religious Freedom (USCIRF), the Institute of Global Engagement (IGE) and experts of the Helsinki Commission, Dunyo reported.

At the meeting with officials of the US Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission), the parties discussed the ways to deepen of partnership in the field of human rights protection.

The US officials emphasized the significant achievements and positive results achieved by Uzbekistan in recent years in the field of promoting human rights and democracy in ensuring the implementation of the Helsinki Agreements. Focusing on the topic of regional security within the scope of OSCE responsibility, the experts commended Uzbekistan’s role in resolving the situation in Afghanistan.

The next autumn meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Uzbekistan in 2023.
