Over 1,500 skilled Uzbeks with adequate language proficiency will be offered jobs in Slovenia, the director of the External Labor Migration Agency Behzod Musayev said.

Reportedly, as of 2025, the unemployment rate in Slovenia hit record lows - about 3.2-3.5%, with shortage of manpower in the labor market. The shortage of manpower is especially acute in the construction, services, healthcare, hotel and restaurant business, manufacturing, education and IT sectors.

In an interview with the Sinchalak blog, Musayev emphasized that Slovenia is a developed European country with a population of just over 2 million people. GDP per capita is 35 thousand euros, and from that standpoint, the country needs workers in many trades.

"We held a labor-related forum here together with the Employment Service, with over 20 major employers attending. We have signed contracts with 7 of them, and based on them, we have received demand for 1,500 jobs to date. The income is high. The lowest salary here is 1,100 euros, and highly skilled personnel and language proficiency are offered very decent wages,” he added.

According to him, at the moment, the Philippine and Nepalese labour is landing for vacancies in Slovenia. However, many of those fail to meet the standards of the European labor market.

He also said that the main requirement for employment is language proficiency of least B1, with Slovenian language close “to the Russian language, so learning it will not be that difficult.” In this regard, courses will be organized for Uzbeks.

This week, Behzod Musayev held talks with the chief of the Slovenian Employment Service, Greta Metka Barbo Škerbinč, whom with they discussed organizing labor migration and forming a reserve of skilled labor for the Slovenian jobs.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a roadmap for labor migration, which provides for the launch of vocational training programs in Uzbekistan aligned with Slovenian standards.
