Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov met with his Chinese counterpart, Liu Wei, during a working visit to China, the Transport Ministry reported.
The talks covered expanding international road freight between the two countries, creating more favorable conditions for national carriers, increasing cargo volumes, and improving the efficiency of transport and logistics links.
The two sides also discussed increasing the number of flights between Uzbek and Chinese cities, expanding flight routes, and creating additional opportunities for passenger and cargo transport.
At the close of the meeting, the two ministers signed a MoM adopting amendments and addenda to the intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and China on international road transport.
Implementing the protocol is expected to expand opportunities for carriers from both countries to operate international routes, improve the efficiency of existing transport corridors, cut administrative barriers, and boost both bilateral and transit freight flows.
The document is also expected to strengthen transport connectivity between Uzbekistan and China and support the development of international transport corridors linking China with Central Asia and other regions.
