A major fire broke out on the night of October 3, 2026, at the Karvon trade complex in the city of Bukhara. The market burned for at least 2.5 hours before the fire was extinguished.

According to available information, Karvon Trade Complex LLC has eight entrances and exits. The complex housed 766 permanent (stationary) shops and pavilions, of which 284 were shops and 522 were pavilions. Its grounds also included 12 catering outlets, 10 grocery stores, 16 consumer service outlets and seven jewelry stores.

Preliminary information indicates that more than 520 shops belonging to about 470 entrepreneurs were damaged. Entrepreneurs interviewed in a report by the Sevimli TV channel said all the goods in their shops had burned.

Mirjon Fayzulloyev, head of the press service of the Bukhara provincial Emergency Situations Department, cited several factors behind the spread of the fire. According to the account, only two of the six underground water intakes on the market grounds were in working order, while the other four were faulty, which also contributed to the fire spreading widely.

No deaths, burns or other injuries were reported. An interagency task force headed by the governor of Bukhara province has been set up at the market. The cause of the fire and the extent of the material damage are being determined.

Following the incident, Bukhara province governor Botir Zaripov met business owners whose shops were destroyed. He said an investigation into the fire had begun.
