The World Bank and the Government of Uzbekistan signed agreements providing funds to implement two projects, which the World Bank's Board of Executive Directors approved in June 2022.

Uzbekistan will get a $143 million concessional credit to implement a project aimed at improving the energy efficiency of public buildings and enhancing the institutional and regulatory framework in the buildings sector for attracting clean energy investments.

Also, Uzbekistan will get a $142 million concessional credit and a $11 million grant to implement a project aimed at increasing the area under sustainable landscape management, restoring degraded forested lands in various regions of the country, and promoting Uzbekistan’s collaboration with other Central Asian countries on transboundary landscape restoration.

The concessional financing to implement these two projects is provided by the International Development Association (IDA), a member of the World Bank Group, to the Government of Uzbekistan at a low-interest rate, with a repayment period of 30 years, including a five-year grace period.
