The US authorities have imposed blocking sanctions against a number of Russian companies, including Tinkoff and Unistream banks. FOllowingly, Uzbek banks began to suspend operations with Unistream payment system.

Ipoteka-Bank was the first to officially announce the suspension of operations with Unistream.

Later, this was announced at Xalq Bank, and then at Turonbank.

Officials of Kapitalbank suspended operations with Unistream in June 2022.

An announcement about Unistream also appeared on the website of Hamkorbank, and later the message was published by the press service of Trustbank.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has not yet officially commented on the situation.

On July 20, Unistream Bank, which services the payment system, came under US blocking sanctions. At the same time, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury added Tinkoff Bank, Loko-Bank and Solidarity Bank to the sanctions list.

Unistream then stated that it had developed an infrastructure solution that would allow uninterrupted cooperation with partners as usual. However, Unistream did not elaborate on what kind of tool it was.
