The Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Ecology, with the participation of experts, considered the air pollution in Tashkent city.

At the meeting, it was decided to develop and implement many proposals, such as a “ A Day Without A Car”, dividing the days of the week for the movement of cars with even and odd license plate numbers, expanding the use of public transport, raising the minimum fuel standard to Euro-4, abandoning coal in industry, etc.

The Prosecutor General's Office urged the public not to rely on unofficial sources reporting air pollution.

“The Hydrometeorological Service Agency of Uzbekistan, equipped with modern HORIBA stations designed for automatic air monitoring, publishes official data on air pollution. It is recommended not to rely on unofficial sources when dealing with air pollution data,” the statement said.

The meeting was attended by a department chief of the General Prosecutor's Office, Uktam Utaev. According to him, on the initiative of the president, as part of the national “green space” program, more than 85 million trees have been planted in the country; green zones with 3 million bushes of drought-resistant plants have been created on the dry bottom of the Aral Sea on an area of 1.8 million hectares or in Surkhandarya.

In his remarks, Utaev emphasized that in Tashkent the number of artificial lakes, reservoirs, and green spaces had decreased, desertification caused by a lack of water in the region was exacerbating, cases of certain violations in the field of use of vehicles, fuel energy and water conservation continue, the atmosphere is polluted more than usually.

On January 12, the Ministry of Environment published its proposals on the causes and ways to solve the problem of air pollution.
