Director of the Ezgulik Human Rights Society of Uzbekistan Abdurakhmon Tashanov reported abuse of a child in Samarkand. He posted a video from March 16 in which a boy can be seen chained by his legs in a Damas minivan. He also shows a cut between his fingers.

According to him, the video was recorded on Ozod Sharq street in the Bogishamol area.

“When police officers found that violence had been committed by a former policeman, they forced me to sign a protocol stating that this situation did not constitute violence. The boy, detained by a former policeman, is currently in the 4th department of the Samarkand city police department, his fate is unknown to us. But the person who detained the child and tortured him has not been puniched,” he wrote.

The spokesman to the General Prosecutor's Office, Khayot Shamsutdinov, said that a criminal case had been launched under the Violent illegal deprivation of liberty.

According to him, police officers are conducting an investigation, which is under the oversight of the prosecutor's office.
