Parents complained on social media about their children's phones being checked at schools. The Tashkent Department of Preschool and School Education commented on the situation.
The Department reported that school leadership together with the National Guard holds weekly Attendance and Anti-knife campaigns at the capital's secondary schools.
As part of these campaigns, in order to "protect students from destructive ideas and negative influences," a representative of the school's parent council, a police officer, and a teacher are also checking students' mobile phones.
