Uzbekneftegaz will cease funding several football clubs in Uzbekistan, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
The company sent an official letter to the Uzbekistan Football Association announcing the company will be no longer funding Nasaf, Bukhoro, and Bunyodkor football clubs.
At a meeting with the President on January 30 of this year on Uzbekneftegaz's operations, the company's improved operational efficiency was emphasized. Specifically, the company discussed the divestment of non-core assets and the cessation of sponsorship payments.
For the above clubs, this means they will have search for new investors and shifting to a different financing model.
