Uzbekistan will be hosting Central Asia-European Union Economic Forum and Investor Forum in November, the EU Ambassador to Tashkent Toivo Klaar at the celebration of Europe Day on May 12.
“These forums will open up new business opportunities,” he noted.
The first economic forum between the two regions took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2021, and the second was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2023.
At the first Central Asia-European Union Summit in April, the EU announced an investment package for Central Asia worth 12 billion euros for four areas: transport corridors, critical raw materials, green energy, and satellite internet.
Toivo Klaar added that the EU was looking forward to the next Human Rights Dialogue. This event held annually, touches upon a wide range of matters: the penitentiary system, prevention of torture and ill-treatment, labor rights, civil society, freedom of association and peaceful assembly, the rights of women and children, freedom of expression, religion and belief.
In addition, the European Union is also expecting the visit of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Brussels this year to sign the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
“This historic visit will open a new chapter in the EU-Uzbekistan relations, which will deepen, diversify and modernize in many areas,” the EU Ambassador noted in his speech.
