Uzbekistan has completed bilateral talks with the United Kingdom as part of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), announced by the President‘s WTO Envoy on his LinkedIn page.
“At the end of last month, we were in London to hold bilateral talks with the UK authorities. Now I am pleased to announce their completion. Since then, we have completed internal procedures and are preparing to sign the relevant MoM as part of the 10th meeting of the working group in Geneva on June 12, 2025,” Urunov said.
Thus, the United Kingdom has become the 24th country with which Uzbekistan had completed talks on WTO accession. The WTO accession progress report was presented to the President Mirziyoyev in early May.
Azizbek Urunov expressed gratitude to the UK authorities for supporting Uzbekistan's accession to the organization, and also thanked the national negotiating team for their hard work.
“There are other WTO member countries remaining to fully complete the bilateral talks,” he added.
In May, Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to complete bilateral talks on WTO accession with the remaining 9 countries by the end of the year, hold two more meetings of the Working Group and complete the preparation of the draft of its final report.
As of March of this year, talks were completed with 21 countries. the Envoy Azizbek Urunov noted that Uzbekistan would have to complete talks with Russia, the European Union, Great Britain, Switzerland and other countries.
