The Government of Uzbekistan, with the participation of Uzbekistan Airports, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, announced the start of preparation of a Request for Qualification (RfQ) for construction and management of the new Bukhara International Airport under a public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
The project envisages construction of a new airport complex in Qumsulton area of Bukhara district. The new airport will serve domestic and international flights and will become one of the region's key transportation hubs.
According to the Uzbekistan Airports, the existing Bukhara International Airport handled more than 574,000 passengers in 2025, with international flights making up majority of traffic.
The project includes the construction of:
- a 48,500 square meter passenger terminal with 1,200 and 400 passenger international and domestic flights hourly throughput capacities respectively;
- a restaurant, parking, and cargo areas;
- a 8,000 cubic meters fueling facility.
The state will keep the management of the infrastructure. Reportedly, the private partner will be in charge of construction and operation of passenger terminal and associated infrastructure.
