The Tashkent province governor’s office convened to discuss the project for a new toll road, the office’s press service. Negotiations are underway to reconstruct a 71-kilometer stretch—spanning from kilometer 6 to kilometer 77—of the 4R12 highway connecting Bektemir, Chirchik, Gazalkent, and Charvak.
The overhaul involves upgrading the road surface to asphalt-concrete standards and converting the route into a toll highway.
Prior to the meeting, the Deputy Governor of Tashkent province, Sh. Makhmudov, held talks with representatives from Qatar's Protocol Capital Group and the South Korea Expressway Corporation to review the Tashkent–Charvak toll road construction project.
The parties discussed the project's technical and investment frameworks, the modernization of road infrastructure to meet contemporary standards, and strategies to boost the region's transport capacity. The project outlines the construction of a 52-kilometer highway, with implementation scheduled to take three years.
Once operational, travel time from Tashkent to the Charvak Reservoir is expected to drop significantly from the current 1 hour and 20 minutes to just 35 minutes. This upgrade aims to improve commuting convenience, alleviate traffic congestion, and eliminate gridlock. Furthermore, the project is poised to turbocharge the tourism potential of the Charvak resort zone, driving up visitor numbers and expanding local service and business sectors.
