Health Minister Eldor Adilov visited the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology to review its operations, the ministry's press service said.

The center's Supervisory Council held its regular meeting with the minister in attendance. It discussed work carried out so far in 2026 and plans for the coming period.

The center operates under the Gustave Roussy International Uzbekistan brand and an international management model, in partnership with France's Gustave Roussy institute, the ministry said. Under the partnership, modern management standards and a quality control system are being implemented.

The center also plans to send 100 young oncologist-surgeons to train at French clinics by 2030.

The meeting covered reimbursement of treatment costs for patients referred through the State Health Insurance Fund, digitalization of the sector, better monitoring of cancer among women and training of radiology specialists.

Participants also considered implementing a unified procedure for delivering medical care to patients in line with Gustave Roussy requirements.

Plans call for converting the center's laboratory into a centralized reference laboratory and creating a National Reference Pathology Center at the hospital. Proposals to set up a national commission on the use and oversight of oncology medicines were also reviewed.

Authorities earlier reported plans to merge Karakalpakstan's Medical Academy, Children's Clinic and Oncology Center into a University Medical Cluster.
