The press service of the Tashkent city courts published the details of the administrative case against the renowned political scientist Kamoliddin Rabbimov.

Reportedly, on April 17, Kamoliddin Rabbimov, 45, together with Sh. Samandarov, 25, “made noise in a public place next to the Tashkent shopping center in Shaykhantakhur district.”

“When they were approached by police officers who were on duty and were invited them to the police department for identification, they resisted the lawful demands of the officers and insulted them in front of the public,” the statement says.

This differs from the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which stated that “during sanitary and preventive measures in Chakar mahalla of the Shaykhantakhur district of Tashkent, Kamoliddin Rabbimov unreasonably interfered in the activities of officers, obstructed their work and resisted their legal requirements.”

According to the press service of the capital's courts, "the actions of the offenders were confirmed by the collected evidence, the testimony of the victim Z. Tursunov, evidence from witnesses and other documents."

The Shaykhantakhur District Criminal Court found Rabbimov guilty of committing administrative offenses under Disorderly conduct, Failure to comply with the lawful demands of police officers and Resisting to police officers charges of the Code on Administrative responsibility. He was placed under administrative arrest for 15 days.

Samandarov was fined for 1 Basic Unit (270,000 soums) under Failure to comply with the lawful requirements of an police officer charge.

The political scientist filed an appeal against the court's decision, as a result of which the appeal instance of the Tashkent City Criminal Court on Monday reviewed the decision of the Shaykhantakhur Court dated April 18. In particular, the arrest was replaced by a fine of 2 BUs (540,000 soums).

On his Facebook page, Kamoliddin Rabbimov said he was at home.

“On April 17, at about 7 pm, there was a operation by police officers near the Chorsu market. By measuring the rule of law in my personal interpretation, I intervened in this matter. However, I understand that it was a mistake to interfere in the affairs of the police officers. Fines have been imposed on me under the articles of the law, and I intend to pay them on time. I'll try to give more details later. Please don't politicize this matter. There were mistakes made on my part,” he said.

Journalist Ilyos Safarov, citing Rabbimov's relatives, reported that he left the house on April 17 at 15:00 and disappeared. Later, he was able to contact the political scientist and found out that he was being held in a pre-trial detention center.
