At the first meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of the member-states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Tashkent, it was proposed to open a "green corridor" for food items between the Turkic states.

According to Kazinform, such a proposal was put forward by the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karashukeev at the Turkic Agro-Forum and the seventh meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

“In order to develop cooperation in the agricultural sector between our countries, it is necessary to adapt the OTS to the new realities and priority areas of cooperation,” Karashukeev said.

He proposed a number of measures that the members-states can jointly implement. In particular, to expand the use of forward contract mechanisms in trade in food products; enhance cooperation in the agricultural sector on the basis of complementarity and effective cooperation; develop cooperation in the areas of animal husbandry and the supply of elite seeds; strengthen trade relations by removing barriers, mutual recognition of safety certificates, creating "green corridors" for the promotion of food products.
