From today Kazakhstan has introduced restrictions on the export of wheat, flour and sunflower seeds starting from July 8. The corresponding decree was signed by the Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeev.

It is forbidden to export more than 550 thousand tons of wheat or meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye), more than 370 thousand tons of wheat or wheat-rye flour and more than 15 thousand tons of seeds from the country.

Quotas will be introduced to ensure the country's food security and will be valid until September 30.

The last time the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan introduced quotas for the export of grain and flour in April. Until June 15, more than 1 million tons of wheat or meslin, as well as more than 300 tons of flour, could not be exported from the country.

Since June 1, Uzbekistan has banned the export of sunflower and cottonseed oil, as well as sunflower seeds and other oilseeds.
