The Prosecutor General's Office announced the arrest of 14 people as part of a provisional probe in a criminal case initiated under Conspiracy to seize power or overthrow the constitutional order of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan in connection with the protests in Karakalpakstan.

It should be noted that earlier in the report on the initiation of a criminal case, the presence of other articles was also indicated, which were not specified.

Dauletmurat Tazhimuratov and Azamat Turdanov are now facing the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. They are now arrested by a court decision.

Signs of crimes infringing on public safety have been established in the actions of Lolagul Kallykhanova, the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement. “She was involved as a suspect in the case and was detained in a procedural manner,” the supervisory authority said.

“Ensuring respect for the honor and dignity of the persons participating in the case, preventing torture, violence and other cruel or degrading actions against the honor and dignity of a person has been taken under special control,” the Prosecutor General’s Office assured.

As noted in the statement, “investigation is carried out with full provision of the rights of suspects and accused persons to defense, in places of detention they are provided with all the conditions provided for by law.”

“There are no complaints about the health and conditions of their detention,” the Prosecutor General’s Office stressed.
