Last week, due to hot weather, electricity consumption in Uzbekistan reached a historical maximum, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.

If in the summer season of last year the average daily electricity consumption in the country topped 224 million kWh, then on July 22 this figure reached 237 million kWh, or 6% more. This is the maximum value in the current year, the report saшв.

In Tashkent, electricity consumption has reached historical levels and surpassed the figure for the autumn-winter period, when demand for electricity is traditionally the highest.

On July 22, this figure was 27.5 million kWh, or by 15% more than the maximum daily consumption in the autumn-winter season of 2021-2022 - 24 million kWh.

“This increase in consumption is certainly driven by the construction of new buildings, the start-up of industrial enterprises, and also by the fact that daily electricity consumption in some households has reached 1000 kWh, which is more than the consumption of electricity by an average household for four to five months,” — noted in the message.

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy reported that in conditions of high temperatures and overheating of power lines, dispatchers are forced to temporarily disconnect certain areas and industrial facilities from power supply in order to prevent large-scale accidents.
