Uzbekistan's state museums, museum-reserves and house-museums under the Cultural Heritage Agency will hold "Museum Week" from September 2 to September 8 this year, the agency has announced.

During the week, Uzbeks will be able to visit any of the 114 state museums and museum-reserves within the agency's network free of charge.

"This week offers a wonderful opportunity to get closer to our history, art and national heritage, and to learn more about rare exhibits and ancient monuments," the agency said in its official statement, inviting the public to take part in the open-house events organized throughout the week.

Museum Week has been held annually in Uzbekistan since 2014, traditionally taking place from August 2 to 8. Under a Cabinet of Ministers resolution, free admission to state museums for the public is designated for these dates each year.
