The Chinese CITIC Construction could be engaged of the Tashkent-Chinaz highway reconstruction project. This became known during a meeting between the Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov and the management of the company.

The parties discussed highway construction and reconstruction projects in Uzbekistan.

CITIC Construction expressed its intended to bid for Pungan-Namanga and Tashkent-Chinaz highways reconstruction projects (the president has already approved this project), as well as in the construction of new toll roads using modern solutions.

The Minister Makhkamov, in turn, emphasized that these roads needed to be completed in a short timeframe using modern technologies that meet international standards, while special attention should be paid to reducing construction costs.

The company said it was studying the projects and would submit project proposals in the coming days.

At the beginning of January 2022, Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a project to repair a 10 km section of the Tashkent-Chinaz highway. It was planned to build 5 underground passages and access roads.
