Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation, the presidential press service said.
The two leaders discussed the issues on the international and bilateral agenda. Vladimir Putin informed Shavkat Mirziyoyev about the results of the Russian-American summit on August 15 in Anchorage (Alaska, USA).
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, supporting the reached agreements, voiced hope for a swift settlement of the situation around Ukraine.
The parties also reviewed coordinated measures to maintain the upward trend in bilateral trade and economic cooperation and expedite the implementation of priority projects for cooperation between enterprises of the two countries.
On August 15, Trump and Putin held talks in Alaska. This was their first personal meeting since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Both called the meeting useful and productive, but did not announce any specific results. "There are a couple of important points on which we have not reached agreement. "There is no deal yet," the US President said.
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House on August 18 at his invitation. The leaders of Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Finland, the head of the European Commission and the NATO Secretary General will also attend this meeting.
The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev previously welcomed direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, the first since 2022, which took place on May 16 in Istanbul. Meanwhile, he again outlined Uzbekistan's position on the military conflict: the situation around Ukraine "must be resolved exclusively by diplomatic means."
