The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov today, the presidential press service said. Reportedly, the parties discussed the ways to further expand the Uzbek-Russian cooperation, the progress of economic projects and cultural and humanitarian exchange programs with St. Petersburg.
They commended the growing two-way trade - according to the results of last year, the volume of export-import operations at the provinces level increased by 20%. Work is underway to launch the Business Center in the capital, as well as to draft a project of a Petersburg Quarter in the New Tashkent.
During the visit of the Russian delegation, a "road map" was adopted for the implementation of 23 projects in the areas of metallurgy, instrument making, road construction, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, food industry, agriculture, logistics and others.
The parties backed the specific proposals for expanding cooperation in the development of private medicine, education, public utilities, digital technologies, migration and tourism, focusing on continuing active humanitarian contacts and regularly organizing joint cultural events.
They reached an agreement on taking measures aimed at ensuring the effective holding of the second meeting of the Council of Provinces of the two countries in October of this year.
