The phase I of Naryn Cascade of Hydroelectric Power Plants (HPPs) was completed on the Naryn River in Uychi district of Namangan province. Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the station during his travel to the province Wednesday.

The president launched construction of the cascade of six HPPs with a total capacity of 228 MW (38 MW each) last March. The total price of the six HPP project, being implemented by Uzbekhydroenergo, stands at $428 million. Generating over 1 billion kilowatt-hours of power annually, it is expected to supply 430,000 households and save 290 million cubic meters of gas annually, equivalent to almost 300 billion soums.

HPP-1, which has been commissioned, "was built entirely using domestic materials and equipment, making it the first national hydroelectric power plant," the presidential press service said in a statement.

The station is designed to generate 171 million kilowatt-hours of power per year, with 130 new jobs created.

Reportedly, for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan’s hydropower, horizontal capsule hydroelectric units have been commissioned here. They are highly efficient even at low water pressures, opening a new chapter in the development of national hydropower.

The second and third stations are scheduled to open in 2026, and the remaining three in 2027.

At last year's ceremony, the president also launched two solar power plant projects, each with a capacity of 500 MW, built by Hyper Partners of Germany and Tepelen Group Holding of the UAE. The price of each project is $350 million.

These three projects will increase the generating capacity of the Namangan province to 2,141 MW. They will produce 7.8 billion kilowatt-hours of power annually, fully meeting the province's demand of 5.5 billion kilowatt-hours. The remaining 30% of the power will be distributed to the Andijan and Fergana provinces.
