The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a decree simplifying employment of citizens of Turkic states. Now, citizens of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will be able to work and do business in Turkey without the need for citizenship or work permits, with the exception of military and secret service jobs.
The decree also requires them to register with professional associations on equal basis with Turkish citizens, but without the right to vote in elections.
The decision was made shortly after the Gabala Turkic Summit, where leaders agreed to deepen economic integration and free movement of labor.
