Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the US Representatives, Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.), Carol Miller (R-WV), and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) in Washington Wednesday, the presidential press service said.
The parties discussed the ways to further strengthen strategic partnership ties between Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as expanding practical cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
The parties underscored the dynamic development of contacts between the legislative bodies and the fruitful work of the Uzbekistan Caucus in the US Congress. Every year, Uzbekistan Days are held in the House of Representatives with the assistance of the Caucus, contributing to the strengthening of Uzbek-American ties.
The emphasized importance of the Congress's full support for the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, primarily in increasing trade, economic, investment, and cultural and humanitarian ties.
Particular attention was paid to expanding interregional ties and establishing practical cooperation with the states of West Virginia, Michigan, and California, which the legislators represent.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing a visit of US representatives to Uzbekistan, as well as a mutual exchange of business delegations headed by regional leaders.
Following this, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met wti the co-chairman of the Central Asia Caucus in the US Senate, Senator Steve Daines, with whom he explored the ways to further strengthen the Uzbek-American strategic partnership ties and increasing multifaceted cooperation.

The sides commended the unprecedentedly high level of bilateral cooperation, the growing mutual trade figures, and the increasing number of successful cooperation projects with major American companies.
In recent months, agreements and contracts worth record values have been inked. Signing of new economic agreements is scheduled for the current visit. They also pointed to the importance of support from the US Congress for the practical implementation of these agreements.
