Today, the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and the president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan held talks at the Kuksaroy residence in Tashkent, co-chaired the second meeting of the Supreme Bilateral Council, and launched a number of joint projects, the press service of the president of Uzbekistan said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev landed in Uzbekistan on his third state visit. At the talks held behind the closed doors, the two leaders expressed confidence that the current visit would mark a new milestone in the history of Uzbek-Kazakh strategic partnership and alliance ties.

Reportedly, the two-way trade year-to-date has reached $4 billion, with the parties reiterating their intention to increase this figure to $10 billion by 2030.

To advance industrial cooperation projects, they proposed launching a joint Investment Platform. A project portfolio worth over $8 billion has been created to date. It includes petrochemicals, geology, infrastructure, logistics, agro-industry projects, and other areas.

The counterparts discussed partnerships in energy, transport, the chemical industry, agriculture, water management, environmental protection, IT, and other areas.

To expand interprovincial contacts, the parties agreed to hold the first Council of Provincial Governors of the two countries in Kazakhstan in 2026.

The heads of state also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

At the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council chaired by the presidents (the format was created in 2024), new areas of cooperation and ways to harness bilateral potential were discussed, according to the Uzbekistan presidency website.

The two leaders reportedly focused on ensuring sustainable growth in mutual trade, diversifying its structure, and creating favorable conditions for business.

They have identified partnership in transport and logistics as a priority area and pointed to the need for joint work to create new transport corridors, including the Uchkuduk-Kyzylorda route and to stimulate freight traffic through the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, and Khorgos.

The parties expressed commitment was to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the transportation and processing of energy resources, energy conservation, and the implementation of green technologies and IT.

An agreement was reached to continue exchanges between scientific and educational institutions and youth organizations and to expand joint programs between higher education institutions.

They emphasized the importance of developing joint tourist routes and promoting historical sites and the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The two leaders decide to take steps to strengthen cooperation in the water and environmental sector. The parties welcomed the signing of an Agreement on the Joint Management and Use of Transboundary Water Bodies during the visit.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underscored that bilateral relations have reached an "unprecedented level," and Central Asia "has become known throughout the world as a region of friendship and cooperation," emphasizing Shavkat Mirziyoyev's enormous contribution to this.

He called him "a recognized leader of the Uzbek people, who enjoys enormous authority on the international stage and is an outstanding statesman, the founder of the New Uzbekistan."

"Thanks to the strong leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has achieved impressive results in many areas and has become known throughout the world as a successful developing country," the Kazakh president said.

Following the council meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the launch ceremony of major projects worth approximately $1.3 billion.

In particular, the CENTRAL ASIA International Center for Industrial Cooperation was launched in the Syrdarya and Turkestan provinces, as well as the new head office of Tenge Bank in Tashkent.

the Silkway Central Asia multi-industry logistics center project has been launched in Tashkent province, a petrochemical complex for the production of linear alkyl benzene in the Kashkadarya province, the Astana residential complex in New Tashkent, and the Tashkent and Astana hotel complexes in the capitals.
