In honour of International Day of Women and Girls in Science (Feb. 11), the British Council’s Women in STEM programme is offering fully funded scholarships for talented female scientists from Uzbekistan to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses in the UK.
This year, the British Council is granting 15 scholarships (five per university) to scholars from Turkey, the Western Balkans, Central Asia, and South Caucasus. The programme provides access to a diverse selection of master’s programmes at three distinguished UK universities – University of Bath, University of Bradford, and Durham University. Upon completing their courses, scholars return home to contribute to the STEM sector in their countries, sharing valuable UK connections and experiences.
Each scholarship for the 2026-27 academic year is worth a minimum of £40,000, including tuition fees, living stipends, travel and visa costs, health coverage fees and English language support. The life-changing scholarships provide access to world-leading science and research universities in the UK and platforms to connect with experts in STEM and the UK’s global network of alumni.
Designed as an opportunity for those who haven't had the chance to study abroad, the programme prioritises applicants who wouldn't be able to pursue education abroad without this scholarship. Emphasising equality, diversity and inclusion, the programme welcomes applications from women of any age. Additionally, applicants must meet the admission requirements of the specific university course, including holding an appropriate undergraduate degree.
