A resident of the Uzbekistan district in the Fergana province, identified as S.E., has been murdered after disappearing on March 31 while attempting to secure an auto loan at a bank in Kokand city. According to the victim's relatives, S.E. was last seen leaving the bank building accompanied by a bank employee; however, the employee returned alone two hours later.
The Prosecutor General’s press service confirmed that during the preliminary investigation, A.T., a credit department specialist at one of Kokand’s banks, was taken into custody as the primary suspect. He has since confessed to killing the client and disposing of the body in the Great Fergana Canal.
The suspect stated that S.E. had visited the branch on March 31 to apply for a promotional car loan. Following a dispute within the building, the two left together in a Chevrolet Tracker to "discuss the matter further." Upon reaching the "Taraqqiyot" neighborhood in the Uzbekistan district, A.T. allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times in the neck with a kitchen knife inside the vehicle.
Following the incident, the suspect returned to the bank and remained at his post until approximately 7:00 PM, leaving the victim's body inside the vehicle. After finishing his shift, he drove to the section of the Great Fergana Canal passing through the Tulash neighborhood in the Uzbekistan district, where he disposed of the body in the water.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 97, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (Willful Homicide), and the suspect, A.T., has been taken into custody. As of now, the victim’s body has not been recovered, and search operations remain underway.
This case draws chilling parallels to a previous incident in the Buka district of the Tashkent province, where the body of an individual struck by a police officer's vehicle was only recovered from the Farkhad Canal after an extensive 80-day search.
