A new transport interchange worth 240 billion soums has been constructed on the border of Tashkent’s Bektemir district and the Urta Chirchik district of the Tashkent province. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the facility during his visit to the Tashkent province on July 22, the presidential press service said.
The overpass was built at the intersection of the A373 highway and the Tashkent Greater Ring Road. The project spans an area of 14.1 hectares.
The infrastructure features a bridge measuring 66 meters long and 46 meters wide, a 450-meter vehicle tunnel, two U-turn lanes, four underground pedestrian walkways, and a 950-meter loop ramp.
Additionally, crews laid 9.5 kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths along the transit hub, built eight public transport stops, installed 240 street lighting poles, and added 6 kilometers of road safety barriers.
The new interchange is expected to streamline traffic flows, improve road safety, and reduce congestion. The section's capacity is set to increase several times over, accommodating up to 130,000 vehicles per day.
During the visit, the President was also briefed on the project’s technical aspects and plans to launch a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system along the Tashkent–Nurafshan route.
