Uzbekistan’s first toll road, connecting the cities of Khiva and Urgench, is scheduled to open in August 2026, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced.
"We have already broken ground on the construction of the first toll road linking Khiva to Urgench. God willing, we will inaugurate it next month. This will serve as a vital piece of tourism infrastructure, benefiting not only local residents but also domestic and international travelers," the Head of State remarked on July 22 during a ceremony launching the construction of the Tashkent–Samarkand toll road.
The President also provided updates on the current progress of the Tashkent–Samarkand and Tashkent–Charvak toll road projects.
"Regarding another major project—the Tashkent–Andijan toll road connecting the capital to the Fergana Valley—the international bidding process is nearing completion.
Furthermore, as tourism experiences rapid growth across our country, we have finalized the design phase for a toll road connecting Tashkent with the scenic Bostanliq district and are currently selecting a private partner. Actual construction on this project will begin shortly.
Broadly speaking, we will soon take concrete steps to roll out similar large-scale road construction projects across Kashkadarya, Namangan, Bukhara, and Surkhandarya," Shavkat Mirziyoyev added.
