Seven women have been sentenced to five days of administrative detention each after a street brawl disrupted public peace in the city of Andijan.
Local authorities reported that on July 30, the emergency hotline "102" received a call regarding a group of women fighting in the courtyard of a multi-story residential building. Law enforcement officers dispatched to the scene discovered the women shouting at one another and causing a public disturbance.
Even after being escorted to the local police station, the women refused to comply with the lawful demands of officers, continuing their altercation using profane and offensive language inside the station.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the physical altercation was triggered by an escalating exchange of mutual insults on Instagram.
The case files were compiled and forwarded to the Andijan City Criminal Court. Following a review, the court found all seven women guilty of public order offenses and sentenced each of them to a five-day administrative arrest.
