The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Oman's Ministry of Finance have signed an agreement on the terms of the bank's presence in the country. The signing took place during a state visit to Kazakhstan by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, in the presence of the sultan and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The agreement opens a new chapter for the EDB. Oman will become the bank's eighth shareholder and its first member state from the Gulf region.
The document was signed by Oman's Finance Minister Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi and EDB Management Board Chairman Nikolai Podguzov.
"The agreement is a step toward closer ties between Central Asia and the Gulf region. We see great potential here and will develop this cooperation, including under the bank's new strategy," Nikolai Podguzov said.
The agreement reflects a shared interest of Oman and the EDB in long-term partnership, sustainable investment and stronger regional links. It is an important step for economic relations between Oman, Kazakhstan and other countries of the Eurasian region.
