Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the visiting Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Thursday, and the sides agreed to adopt a joint “road map” to expand practical cooperation.
Pons Sampietro is on a working visit to Uzbekistan. The meeting reviewed prospects for developing cooperation with the OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly, including interparliamentary dialogue.
The road map will set new priorities for cooperation, the sides agreed.
They noted with satisfaction the positive pace of ties and said a constructive dialogue has been established on the environment, migration and transport. They also exchanged views on international issues, including developing regional partnership in Central Asia.
Uzbekistan has a permanent delegation to the Assembly, and a representative of Uzbekistan has been appointed to its Special Committee on Migration. Assembly representatives regularly take part in observing elections in the country.
