Karachi hosted an Uzbekistan-Pakistan business forum as part of a working visit to Pakistan by a delegation of the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry and business leaders.
At the event were present senior executives of major Uzbek and Pakistani chemicals, agriculture, textiles, leather and wool processing, pharmaceuticals, and construction companies.
In his opening remarks, the Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev spoke in detail about the open, modern, and favorable environment created for investors in Uzbekistan and the perspectives for implementing projects within the framework of the regional connectivity initiative. He stressed that there was a huge untapped potential in increasing trade volumes, implementing joint projects, and strengthening cooperation in strategic areas, as well as in agriculture, textiles, energy, information technologies, digitalization, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and logistics.
While, the Director of the Pakistan Trade Development Agency, Faiz Ahmed, touched upon the opportunities for expanding bilateral economic relations between the countries, bringing the volume of mutual trade to $2 billion, and jointly producing import-substituting and export-oriented products.
During the B2B meetings within the framework of the business forum, a number of agreements were signed in the fields of chemicals, textiles, leather and wool processing, construction products, and agriculture.
At the end of the event, the parties agreed to organize a business mission of Sindh province of Pakistan to Uzbekistan in August to consistently continue bilateral negotiations and agree on specific projects.
