A 24-hour free-to-air Uzbekistan 24 news channel parented by the flagship National Television and Radio Company (NTRC) began broadcasting at 10:00 on July 24. The channel is available at the frequency of the closed Diyor channel.

The first hour of the air featured the behind the scenes shots and congratulations from famous people, among them Russian cardiac surgeon Leo Bokeria, Ambassadors of India and Kazakhstan, sports people, scientists, journalists and ordinary viewers.

Welcoming the viewers, the presenters declared that “it is time for television to wake up, cover the large-scale reforms in an awakening country".

The new TV channel, created on the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiative, promises to work openly, promptly and objectively, raise topical issues and serve to the main viewer - the ordinary people.

Uzbekistan 24 was launched on the birthday of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who turned 60 today.

There channel will reportedly have a network of reporters both in provinces and abroad.
