At the Dec. 14 government meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of expediting the transformation of Uzautosanoat, the presidential press service said.

He underscored that car production in the country in recent years, despite difficulties with logistics, had increased 3 times. By the end of the year, total production should reach 415 thousand vehicles.

To curb the state monopoly and develop competition in the industry, 3 new private carmakers and foreign brands have now been deployed. Today, 8 factories in the country are producing dozens of types of passenger cars, freight and passenger vehicles, agricultural and special equipment.

The industry has established cooperation between more than 2,000 enterprises, and the localization level of components is at 50%. By 2030, it is planned to increase the production of passenger cars in the country to 1 million units.

However, the demand for cars remains unmatched. Competition among carmakers is rising both in the domestic and foreign markets. Therefore, Uzautosanoat must make more efforts to expand its model range, improve quality, reduce production costs and work in a competitive environment, the president said.

Noting that today the world's leading carmakers are switching to the production of electric vehicles, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that if domestic enterprises hesitate to develop this industry, they will face difficulties in the future.

Next year, an annual 10 thousand EVs capacity plant is scheduled to be launched in Uzbekistan. The president ordered to launch the production of components for them.

In the field of agricultural engineering, more than 3,500 units of equipment were produced this year. By 2030, it is planned to increase this volume to 16 thousand per year.

An agricultural engineering cluster was set up in Chirchik. Its annual production capacity is 15 thousand tractors, trailers and other equipment. However, the system for selling them does not meet the requirements of the time, it was said at the meeting.

The president Mirziyoyev instructed to expand incentives for the purchase of domestic equipment, increase the interest of clusters and farmers, create a portfolio of orders and identify additional measures. The task has been set to bring the localization level of domestic tractors to 35 percent, and suspended equipment and trailers to an average of 60 percent.
