Uzbekistan intends to attract the US-based Nvidia processor manufacturer to implement AI in education and develop AI infrastructure for universities, industrial and government sectors, the Ministry of Digital Technologies said.
The Minister Sherzod Shermatov discussed these topics during a meeting with the company's management in the USA.
“The Ministry plans to develop and evaluate the technical basis for creating two AI clusters with a total computing power of up to 1 MW by 2026. One of them will be intended for educational and scientific purposes, the other – for the implementation of AI digital government, healthcare and industry projects. These projects will be implemented under separate agreements, taking into account existing infrastructure capabilities,” the Ministry of Digital Technologies underscored.
Uzbekistan also intends to create an AI Excellence Center based on Nvidia technologies and educational programs. Approximately $3 million is planned to be invested in the center, which is expected to launch in 2026.
In addition, the government of Uzbekistan is considering the possibility of implementing additional Nvidia AI infrastructure at industrial enterprises, banks and government organizations in 2026. Approximately 1 MW of power and the necessary financial resources are allocated for this purpose. This project will be implemented on the basis of separate agreements.
Reportedly, an initiative to provide major Uzbek universities with Nvidia supercomputing infrastructure is also being considered. Procurement procedures are planned for the fourth quarter of 2025.
The inclusion of AI courses into university curricula is planned in phases. Furthermore, training and professional development of teachers is planned through Nvidia Deep Learning Institute programs, taking into account existing capabilities.
“The first small cluster based on Nvidia technologies has already arrived in Uzbekistan. We have signed an agreement on the next cluster and are preparing documents for new phases.” "Cooperation with Nvidia includes not only the supply of chips, but also joint work in the research and development direction," Minister Sherzod Shermatov said in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 channel.
He also mentioned the companies with which Uzbekistan was establishing cooperation – Juniper Networks, Datavolt, Super Micro, and others. The minister emphasized that in what concerns AI, ensuring the presence of the Uzbek language in platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude plays an important role.
"This requires the systematization and labeling of Uzbek data – so-called data labeling. This is handled by Scale AI, which structures data for all leading AI companies. We discussed with them the possibility of working with Uzbek-language data. During the president's visit to the USA, the head of state instructed all relevant organizations to provide this data. After its systematization, the data will be integrated into global AI systems, and in the future, AI will be able to better understand and speak the Uzbek language," the minister said.
Scale AI, headquartered in San Francisco, was founded in 2016. The company is considered one of the leading data providers for generative AI, which is used by government agencies, technology companies, and enterprises.
At a meeting in Washington on November 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced plans to launch the global payment systems Apple Pay and Google Pay in Uzbekistan, as well as the creation of a network of digital academies and startup hubs.
