In his address to the nation, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed declaring 2026 as Year of Development of Mahalla and Social Prosperity.
In the beginning of his address, the president called the mahalla (neighborhood) the foundation of democratic reforms and a phenomenon that has amazed the world.
"Throughout history, no matter how difficult the challenges we've faced, we've drawn strength from unity. In difficult times, our people, mahalla residents, have overcome difficulties shoulder to shoulder. Family supported family, neighbor helped neighbor. We must always remain true to this unique value and raise the younger generation in this spirit," the head of state declared.
"Naturally, today our society has diverse opinions and views. This is the primary requirement of democracy. However, regardless of ethnicity, language, and religion, there is one great idea that unites our 38 million people. These are the interests of the Motherland, the interests of our people".
"The role and influence of the mahalla system are invaluable in achieving such a great goal. Because if the mahalla is peaceful and friendly, our society will also be peaceful and united. If the mahalla develops, our entire country prospers," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
