Issuance of environmental stickers for vehicles started as part of Eco-friendly Transport system. During the phase I it will be voluntary. Stickers in one of three colors, depending on the environmental category (green for Clean, yellow for Medium, and red for Harmful), will be issued free of charge and have an indefinite timeline. Stickers will be issued by default when purchasing and registering a new vehicle with the Road Safety Service.

One can apply for a sticker either online through the My.Gov.uz portal or its app (delivery by mail within 10 days, mail charge is 20,600 soums), or at the Road Safety Service's Vehicle Diagnostic Inspection Center in Fayzabad neighborhood.

Environmental categories for vehicles with a confirmed environmental class:

  • Gasoline/LPG: Euro 2 and above — Clean category, Euro 0 and Euro 1 — Medium;
  • Diesel: Euro 4 and above — Clean, Euro 3 — Medium, Euro 0, Euro 1, and Euro 2 — Harmful;
  • Hybrid vehicles, vehicles running on alternative fuels (except LPG), and vehicles less than three years old — Clean.

Work has begun in Tashkent and the Tashkent province to designate ecological zones. They will be approved by the councils of people's deputies.

The zones will be designated with a special sign, which will be included in the traffic regulations, and displayed on an electronic map available online. It is not yet known when this work will be completed.

Ecozone status is planned to be assigned to protected natural areas or areas with scientific, cultural, recreational, or health-improving value.

Area that scores the lowest on a 100-point environmental rating system will also be considered for inclusion on the list of ecozones. A set of environmental indicators will be taken into account, such as CO2 emissions, energy consumption, building energy efficiency, the use of eco-friendly transport, the proportion of green spaces, waste management, water and air quality, biodiversity, and environmental management effectiveness.

Vehicles without a green sticker, or without a sticker at all, will be prohibited or restricted from entering eco-zones. Violations will result in a fine, the size of which will be determined later. Fines will not be introduced until January 1, 2028.

The project's pilot phase will allow to evaluate how the system will work in practice and where adjustments are needed, the committee representative said.

The restriction on entry into eco-zones does not apply to emergency vehicles, or to public transport, except for taxis and minibuses. They also do not affect vehicles transiting through Uzbekistan or temporarily staying in the country, agricultural machinery, or vehicles with a "person with disabilities" sign.

Entry into the ecological zone will be permitted for those who live or work within it, as well as for emergency medical visitors.
