4+4 Mechanism meeting between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Defense, and the chiefs of security services of Uzbekistan and Turkey took place in Ankara Tuesday, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
The 4+4 mechanism is a platform for cooperation between the two countries in the areas of security, military cooperation, intelligence, and foreign policy, the Dunyo news agency said.
The meeting’s agenda included bilateral ties, regional issues, and global events. The parties discussed the ways to advance cooperation for development and prosperity while maintaining a reliable security system.
"We are united by a common goal—improving the quality of life of our peoples, and we are committed to achieving it," said the Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.
To coordinate their joint efforts, the parties adopted a Joint Action Plan for the near future.
The following day, on January 21, Foreign Ministers Bakhtiyor Saidov of Uzbekistan and Hakan Fidan of Turkey held the 4th meeting of the joint strategic planning group.
The parties discussed the ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, security, defense industry, culture, education, and tourism.
They also reviewed the Uzbek, Turkish, and Azerbaijani transport and energy projects, including the Trans-Caspian Corridor and the crucial Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and discussed regional and international issues, including Afghanistan, Gaza, Ukraine, and Syria.
The event also discussed preparations for the 4th meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, co-chaired by the presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey, scheduled to be held in Ankara.
