A group of individuals suspected of land fraud has been detained in the Tashkent province, according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The ministry reports that a 39-year-old citizen, along with his associates aged 43 and 36, attempted to fraudulently sell a plot of land in the Yangiyul district to a buyer. The four-hectare property is currently designated for livestock farming and is held in the state reserve.
The suspects promised the buyer that they could finalize the sale documents by leveraging connections with high-ranking officials. They valued the land at $400,000, which breaks down to $1,000 per sotka (one hundred square meters).
Law enforcement officers caught the group red-handed and detained them while they were receiving an initial payment of $20,000. A criminal case has been launched against them under Paragraph "a" of Part 4, Article 168 of the Criminal Code (Fraud committed on an especially large scale).
